Who We Are

Tree of Life is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and its Delaware-Maryland Synod.

We confess and worship the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Old and New Testaments bear witness to God’s work in the world and the fullest expression of that work, Jesus Christ.

We practice two sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.

We confess, with Jesus, that the greatest commandment is “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself.”

We are, as a congregation of the ELCA, in full communion with the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), Reformed Church in America, United Church of Christ, Moravian Church, Episcopal Church USA, and the United Methodist Church.

Tree of Life became a full congregation of the ELCA in 1999. Prior to that we were a mission start for ten years under the name St. Mary's Lutheran Community Church. We have members who worshipped here when we met at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, in the storefront of the Exchange in Middletown, and most recently at Brick Mill Elementary School. We have been in our current property since December of 2010.
